Financial Adviser – DipFA AwPETR
Helping people achieve their financial goals is an extremely rewarding experience. No two clients are the same, which means no two days are the same. It’s a really fast-paced industry, full of characters and personal interaction, and I absolutely love it.
Since we made Cashflow Modelling an integral part of our Advice Process, we can bring to life people’s finances and show how their money interacts with their life. We’ve been able to encourage people to retire sooner than they thought, gift money they didn’t think they could, and live to a higher standard than they thought was sustainable. It’s been revolutionary to our business.
I am also a Pension Transfer Specialist which means I regularly get to show our clients how nerdy I can be. But seriously, in this legislative and financial landscape we currently enjoy, having the tools, knowledge and experience to show people how their pensions interact with their objectives for income, flexibility and legacy has been extremely powerful.
The value of pensions can fall as well as rise. You may get back less than you invested. Transferring out of a Final Salary scheme is unlikely to be in the best interests of most people.
In my spare time, I hack golf balls around my local club, try to catch fish on the River Great Ouse, watch Nottingham Forest underachieve, and barbecue large chunks of meat throughout the year (weather irrelevant). My Labradors also enjoy the fruits of unsuccessful barbecue.
Financial Adviser – DipFA MLIBF PETR
Making a positive impact on a client’s future is the most rewarding aspect of my job. In my opinion receiving great Financial Advice is one of the most important things a person can do.
We build our advice on long-lasting relationships with clients. We understand that needs evolve over time. For instance, the transition from employment to retirement can be daunting, but having a thorough understanding of a client’s circumstances, a trusted relationship built over years of interaction, and the knowledge and expertise to guide them to the correct decision, makes that transition a lot easier. Being part of their journey is where we add the most value.
My route to this industry was slightly unconventional. I played professional rugby for Bristol and London Welsh before an injury ended my career at the age of 27. But you could say I’m carrying on the family tradition as both my Father and Uncle work in the industry.
In my spare time I visit the various gyms participating mainly spin and Pilates classes, I eat out at restaurants far too often, but mostly I love spending good-quality time with family and friends.

Acting as a consultant to Spiritus has been a breath of fresh air for me. My background has always been in the running of businesses, so when my son Joe and his great friend Richard decided to set up Spiritus in 2013, I was only too happy to oversee their financial strategy and provide any guidance they needed.
Now that we’ve navigated through the formative years, my role has evolved over time and I provide up-to-date MI as and when it’s needed, as well as processing payroll, invoicing, and managing cash flow. The business is on a very solid financial footing and their business plans reflect their joint desire for steady growth over time. The growth in turnover has really been a testament to their foresight, commitment to the business, and maintaining a sensible growth strategy.
When I get any spare time, I like to watch as much cricket as is humanly possible at Trent Bridge, and I enjoy the decumulation of my wine collection.

Planning for the future – exploring all of the possibilities, as well as the likelihoods, is a part of my job that brings me great joy. Helping people has always been my life’s ambition – and this job allows me to do just that: help our clients plan for their future success by using the means they currently possess. Every day is different, and every client too, which keeps me happily on my toes!
My role is in connecting our clients with their adviser, and ensuring that systems and protocol runs smoothly in the background – keeping our advisers focused solely on the client and the planning process. My goal is to integrate all of this, while still providing our clients with a truly personal, bespoke experience. I am personally in touch with each of our clients, so when you have a query, there is always a friendly, knowledgeable point of contact.
I am qualified in Financial Administration, and currently studying for my DipFA, however I arrived at finance through an unusual avenue. Having majored and worked in both the Psychology and HR landscapes, I have entered the financial industry with a firm focus on providing the best experience for the people herein – our clients. It is not just about the numbers for me.
My diverse hobbies include AcroYoga and Ballroom dancing – both sports that greatly develop one’s team ability, strength, balance (and for Acro – a strong sense of bravery)! Hailing from Africa – I also thrive best when surrounded by nature on hikes, or equally, eating my way around the best food markets in the city.
Head of Paraplanning – CertPFA MLIBF DipFA
My role is to head up the Paraplanning team at Spiritus, which is a major part of the Compliance function within the Financial Advice industry.
It is my responsibility to accurately record the reasons behind why a recommendation has been made, and to make it clear and easily digestible for our busy clients. Considering the complexity of some of the circumstances we deal with, this certainly poses a challenge!
I can’t say I’m passionate about paperwork, but I do thoroughly enjoy my role. I get to see a wide cross-section of advice and how it relates to the lives of our clients, and I genuinely learn something new every day. Being part of a small but very productive team means life is fast-paced, and we work together on cases from inception of the advice, through the minor and major changes to planning as a client’s life evolves. I find it fascinating.
I am also studying for my Diploma in Financial Advice so at some time in the future I might make the step into a more client-facing role. Time will tell!
In my spare time I enjoy gymnastics, going to the gym, drinking a refreshing gin and tonic, smoking meats, and international travel.
